NHL Northern European TV deal made?

It is being reported by other sites, and confirmed on sites such as Viasat.fi that the NHL has found a new home this season. This deal will include Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark and Norway – Several huge markets for hockey and a key audience.

This deal comes at a blow to those who have subscribed to the NHL’s fantastic Game Center Live service (review forthcoming) which offers unlimited coverage of all NHL games during the season as well as access to previous games from previous years. Subscribers in affected regions will be issued refunds.

Whether or not Viasat will offer online streaming is yet to be stated, however it has offered this service in the past for Football games within the countries it serves in Europe.

Getting Ready for the 2010/11 Season!

Hello again. Its been a while since the last post; but with little hockey action happening; a break away from the site felt like the best thing.

Behind the scenes there have been some major and minor revisions; and we will continue to adjust things so that we can make our site as finely tuned as a Stanley Cup Bound team.
The most exciting change I think personally is the integration with facebook. To leave a comment; you only just have to link your facebook account with our site- rather than sign up here. We can’t see anything personal about you besides your photo and name, so theres no need to worry about sharing your data.
Along with this; you can share an article simply by dragging an image from the post, or using the bar below which is provided to us by Wibiya.

If that’s not enough to excite you, then perhaps an idea of what’s coming this season will be. Being the 5th Anniversary of our website expect a more action packed season than usual – we have our long planned week of hate due, several reviews of hockey games including mobile variants, not forgetting our planned “almost” live feed from the NHL Premiere in Sweden and of course we rat on even more logos that should never have existed.

So; sit back and get ready for the 2010/11 season, whether your a fan, a player or someone who has never watched a hockey game before.

The Off-Season

Once again; we have reached the time where we anxiously wait to see what move teams make and hope that we can make the playoffs.

Not unlike teams in the NHL, we like to make a few changes during the offseason to our site. Currently, most of these are in the early beta stages; but we have a lot of exciting changes planned and whilst we cannot share some of what we are doing we can share with you an idea of what we are doing:

- Comments are back.
After a long period of time not allowing feedback; we will start allowing you to comment on what we post using your facebook account should you have one (should you not; you can register directly with us)

-Faster loading.
Whislt our site is pretty fast, we are optimizing our site and cleaning it up to improve your experience

-More social.
Whether you want to show your mate how awful something we have said is, or you want to spread the word of something that you thought was awesome you will be able to in a much easier and intuitive system.

Thats just a few of the features we are bringing to the site, and whilst you may notice some lack of content occasionally, or the layout moving to weird places; rest assured it will all be worth it.

We will still aim to post content on at the least a weekly basis; and we hope that you will continue to follow us during the off season!
